I often listen to this song every early morning, when waking up with a beautiful blue bed. My friend’s house is to the west of the island, in a valley, so the sun often rises a little bit late. Sometimes, I listened to IZ Israel Kamakawiwo “The giant Ole hold the small guitar and sing a beautiful song about Hawaii”. I always keep distance with a native Hawaii on the beach, no photographing, and of course never keep eyes contact if accidentally face to face.
That’s what most after the trip, I did not breathe in the breath of Hawaii, smile the Hawaii’s smile, sing the true Hawaii rhythm. My memory did not have the trace of the Polynesian. Thinking about this, I really wanted to cry. I had a trip when I was not young, and I felt lost because I could not enjoy it by the enthusiasm of the young.
I want to live in Hawaii slowly. I want to relax myself reading book on the beach, listening to the Ukulele. I want to shyly look at the boys who have tanned skin and lead on the strong waves days by days. I want to drink every blue warm and burning drops of Hawaii on the Rainbow bench.
My friend told us that we were at Hawaii for only 20 days but we discovered this island like we were here for 2 years. It shows the busy that we had been through on the 3 islands: Oahu, Big islands and Kua’ai.
There are 4 big islands in Hawaii chosen by the tourists: The Big Islands, Maui, Oahu, and Kua’ai. Among the fours, Oahu is the most populated island with Hololulu capital. After many days discovering on the island, I can tractions as follow: Downtown area: Center of Holululu with Waikiki beach, quick access to Pearl city and Pearl Harbor, to Hanauma Bay (excellent for swimming and snokerling) to Manoa Trail (trekking through a forest), , visiting Diamond Head (hiking), to Pali lookout or Tantalus lookout (overview of Hololulu) It takes you at least 3 days. North Shore Area: Living to the north of island with wonderful beaches, where usually host professional surfing competitions such as Banzai Pipeline and Sunset beach. Way to North Shore from the capital city Hololulu goes through the huge farms and grass before reaching the road besides the sea, which covers the north pole and then goes along the South. On your way, you can drop by Haleiwa village (hometown of wave surfers) and cool down with a cup of colorful shake ice; visit Dole farm to enjoy the famous coconut ice cream, take a look at the lying turtles on the beach, or go through Waimea Bay and Waimea valley to take some pictures (expensive tickets), have a lunch with Kahuky Shrimp, and then come back to the Australian Culture Center to discover and enjoy the geniuses of tradditions 2 days are enough for North Shore Kaneohe and Kailua area : The speciality of these areas is beach and beach. You can stop at China Hat at Kaneohe to have luch (do not forget picnic stuff), go in to Kualoa Range area at where Jurasic Park movie was filmed. I did not go deep in to the Kualoa range because of sunshine and laziness. After that, when seeing Jurassic Park, I realized that it’s a wonderful place. It will take another 2 days. West Shore Area: This is the most slowly developed in Oahu, not many tourists, lightly populated. The beaches to the West of Oahu are beautiful in the afternoon, big wages, blue sea, and you may have chance to meet some whales. Clearly, taxi or public transport are not a good choice in Hawaii. Therefore, the best solution is to hire a car and sleep in tent. I am not sure if camping on the beach is restricted or not, but you can take a shower and change clothes for free. Tantalus Lookout The first place my friend took me to is Tantalus Lookout, suitable for picnic and camping. Tantalus Lookout is a high spot near the center of Hololulu, where people can hide from the fast pace of the city within 10 minutes by car. From here, you can have an overview of capital city of Oahu with Waikiki beach, Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor. When we reach the top, where there is a prospect sight radio with paved walkways with railings and roofs, below is a green hillside but we could not see yellow flowers because it was so crowded. It turned out that European filmmakers Hawaii (Hawaii 5-0) was having a shot here. My friend told me that this is a popular movie series but honestly, I did not have quite a concept, just see the rear precursor equipment and supporters is so spectacular. Winds in Tantalus are quite cold and strong make my hair flipped. Many people leaned against the iron railing, lonely or whispered quietly with companions. The city lights up.
Hololulu airport is not good as we thought, dealing with the structure and the behavior of the ground services. Because we brought , we checked in at the gate for native people and not have to line up. I used to think that there would be flowers and music from Ukulele, but my friend and I were wrong. It was almost 11 am, Hawaii time. I was stuck with a lot of luggage and kids waiting for the family to pick up. Fortunately, no one was jet lagged. The most valuable moment in Hawaii at the first sight was when I met my best girl friend named Thuy Bee (My nick name is Thuy Butterfly), the glee when meeting her again, I was lost for words for that moment. And there was tears dropped
